IMPORTANT SCHOOL BUS SAFETY MESSAGE
Spartan Family,
We are less than a week away from the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The start of the school year means school supply shopping, registration, and more - but, it also means students walking and riding their bicycles to school and our busses back on local roads.
We need your help to keep our children safe! Please watch for students coming to and from school, drive cautiously, and stop for crossing guards. Also, it is vital that you observe all laws related to our bus stop arms. Simply put, stop arm violations are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
In Indiana, it's illegal for drivers to pass a stopped school bus that has its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended. This applies to all roads except for motorists on a highway that is divided by a barrier, such as a concrete wall or grassy median. Here in Fayette County, this includes almost ALL of our roadways.
INDOT Guidelines:
Two-Lane Roadways
If a school bus stops on a two lane road and the red flashing lights are activated and the stop arm is extended, all motorists MUST stop.
Multi-Lane Roadways with NO Barrier between Lanes
When a school bus stops on a multi-lane roadway without a barrier and the red flashing lights are activated and the stop arm is extended, all motorists MUST stop.
Multi-Lane Roadway with a Grassy and/or Concrete Barrier
When a school bus stops and the red flashing lights are activated and the stop arm is extended, only vehicles behind the bus MUST stop. Vehicles that are approaching from the opposite side are NOT required to stop, but should proceed with caution
Fayette County School Corporation buses are equipped with stop arm cameras. Those who illegally pass a stopped school bus will be held accountable. Tickets have and will continue to be written. Violators could pay a fine of up to $10,000 or have their license suspended for up to 90 days for the first offense or up to a year for the second. This is never what we want to happen, but we are willing to take every possible step to keep our kids safe.
We thank you for your continued help and support as we strive to protect our most precious assets...our children.
Mr. Jeremy Duncan
Superintendent, Fayette County School Corporation

COMING SOON!
Fayette County School Corporation Introduces Stopfinder: Real-Time Bus Information for Families
The Fayette County School Corporation is excited to roll out Stopfinder, a new smartphone app designed to improve communication and provide families with real-time updates about their student’s transportation schedule. After a successful pilot with some families whose children attended Summer School, Stopfinder will launch district-wide in August, just in time for the start of school.
What is Stopfinder?
Stopfinder is an easy-to-use, all-in-one app that gives you access to the most accurate, real-time information about your child’s bus schedule—anytime, anywhere. Designed with parents in mind, it helps ensure your student’s transportation is safe, reliable, and predictable.
Key Features
1. Real-Time Bus Schedule - Instantly see the most current information for your student’s bus route, including stop times and notifications of any significant delays or changes.
2. GeoAlerts - Customize alerts to notify you when your child’s bus arrives or departs from specific locations—such as your home, the school, or any designated stop along the route.
3. Announcements - Receive important updates directly from the FCSC Transportation Department, including reminders, forms, and other transportation-related communications.
Getting Started with Stopfinder
To help you begin using Stopfinder, here’s how the setup process works:
1. Download the Stopfinder App - Stopfinder is free and available for download from both the App Store and Google Play:
-App Store – iOS
-Google Play – Android
We encourage all parents and guardians to download the app and get familiar with it before the school year begins. Staying informed has never been easier.
2. Email Invitations - The primary contact email address on file with the district will receive an invitation to join Stopfinder. Be sure to check your inbox (and spam folder) as the new school year approaches. Also, please be sure that your email address is up to date at registration.
3. Multiple Students? No Problem! - You may receive separate invitations for each student in your household, but all of them can be linked to a single Stopfinder account. You’ll only need to set up one login to manage transportation details for all of your children.
4. Create Your Account - After downloading the app and accepting your invitation, you’ll be able to log in and view all transportation information in one convenient location.
